Finalize your Blogs

 Time to start making your final blog portfolio.  Final blog is due by  Thursday at 3pm.   Make sure it is organized  with professional looking photos/scans with proper lighting!  Weak portfolio means a weak grade.  Good portfolio means a good grade.

THURSDAY!

 THURSDAY is worth 20pts!  Get your work as close to ready as possible.  We will take a look at them then you will be allowed to work into them over the break if you desire.

TIme to be serious

  I am checking blogs on monday for progress points.... I wonder who is going to get the points. Hmmmm

Also, time to get serious in class the last few class periods have been filled with students not coming prepared, not getting anything accomplished, and a lot of conversation NOT on art.  Congratulations you just gained daily pts.  Every day is worth three points from here on out.  If you do not use your time wisely, show up late, come unprepared, or text in class  you will receive less than the three points for the day.   This can all add up.  Soooo.... to receive your full three points.  1. Show up on time.  2.  Come prepared for class. 3. Use your time wisely 4. Don't text in class

Also, for anyone who actually reads this blog you will get an advantage.  There may be a pop quiz over what you have learned soon.  Shhh.... don't tell.

Nice to see you guys have been working. Now I want to see more updates with images!!

Remember to comment on other student blogs, use this as a place to really help each other or ask for help on something.  The more you use the blog the more this is a resource for you all.

UPDATING?

Reminder to update your blogs regularly. Many of you have been slowing down a bit on updating your blogs.  From here on out make sure you update every two weeks by Sunday at Midnight! Reminder there are points for your blogs!

Shoe assignment

 I have been looking at  all your shoe illustrations.  All together I am impressed they look already more improved than your line art pieces.   Make sure you all post images when you get them so you can get comments on them. There are a few of you who haven't posted a single picture!
I plan on getting your line art back to you.  I just have to input the grades in the morning.  I will have to say they were a bit hit and miss. A few pieces really seemed rushed.  That isn't always a bad thing it can add style from time to time.  But when illustration is centered around the viewer grasping the idea of the image in a very quick moment, it is imperative that the image is clear.

Line art illustrations are coming :)

 It was excellent to see your 5 good 5 bad illustrations.  I am amazed by how many of you really have an interest in this subject.  Remember to bring your photos of yourself so you can start your line art illustration.   Line art illustrators are often not identified if any of you have a favorite illustrator you would like to share that would be great! Add them to the comment list so others can look them up! Also remember to periodically check each others blogs to see what everyone is doing.  Don't forget to comment and tell them what you think.

The KWU Illustration blog- Illustration Illumination has 5 followers!!!!!!!  However, only two has blog sites listed.  Just following Illustration Illumination is not having your own blog.  You need to create a separate one! Which I am guessing many have I just can't find  the address to your blog since it is not  listed with your contact info. 

You need to email me your blog site or follow the classes blog attach your blog site to your contact info so that way I can see your blog.

Note if you use an old blog of yours make sure that when you make the files clear what are for the illustration course and what is for other stuff. 

I will give you tell Tuesday at 5pm for everyone to complete!  If you need help come see me I would be glad to help.

Getting Started!

 So I just started my first blog EVER for this course.  I am expecting the rest of you to do the same. I got this idea from another professor who teaches at Kirksville, Mo.  I thought the idea was wonderful and thought it would be a perfect way for us to communicate and see what you all are doing for homework, process work and completed projects.  This is a requirement for your course to keep up dating your blog a minimum of weekly.  How does blogging relate to illustration you ask?   Well, all fields of art are getting more and more tech savvy and illustration in general  is typically used for commercial purposes.  This means, that others need to be exposed to your work in order to pay your bills.  Getting a job in illustration isn't easy so finding new ways to market your work is imperative.
